Overview
The objective of the Visual Arts Faculty is to expose the students to the wonders of art. In both the junior and senior classes we research artist models from New Zealand and overseas, incorporating ideas to produce original artworks. Art encompasses subjects such as painting, design, digital photography, print making and sculpture.

Career Pathways
Art leads to a broad range of career opportunities and provides a sound base for a range of tertiary education programmes in the field of art. Previous students have found careers in such areas as product design for Fisher and Paykel, designer for Peter Jackson, Photographer for New Zealand Airforce, Exhibition officer for Te Papa to name but a few.

- Art exhibition and auction held every second year
- Student work has been selected as national benchmarks
- Travelling Art Road Show around primary schools
- Prize winners in the Shirleys Shoes catalogue art competition


Special Activities
- Every two years the Art Deptment takes a field trip to Wellington to visit the tertiary institute, art galleries and attend the Wearable arts show
- Participate in local and national competitions in art and photography
