Football

Football in the school is enjoying a positive increase in participation for 2009.

We have two girls’ teams and a senior boys team all playing in the combined Taupo/Rotorua Secondary School Leagues on Wednesday afternoons.

The girls 1st 11 have won all their games so far this season and are a very spirited and determined team capably led by Ellie Stevens. Practises are well attended with the girls learning new skills and tactics every week from their coach Janine Giddy.

The girls 2nd 11 were also entered into the League this year due to the fact we were fortunate enough to secure the coaching services of Isidro Branco. The team are doing really well enjoying some very closely contested matches. Cassandra Van Der Hulst accepted the privilege to captain this team for the season and is doing a great job.

Our senior boys’ team entered a new league this year and have only lost one game so far. We are very lucky to have Mark Jones who is an extremely experienced player representing his federation and local club. Mark offered to coach the boys, keenly supported by Team  Manager Mr Paulussen.

Our keen junior boys are all playing in club teams each Saturday and will eventually feed into the Senior Team.
