NCEA (Levels 1-3) A National Certificate of Educational Achievement is available at Levels 1, 2 and 3 and is generally assessed in Years 11-13. Students may attempt two types of standard: achievement and unit standards Specific areas of subjects are assessed by individual standards Each standard is worth a set number of credits/Achievement Standard Assessments are graded at Not Achieved, Achieved, Merit, Excellence Students can gain an NCEA certificate with Merit or Excellence ie. a student must earn 50 credits at Merit or above to gain a Merit Certificate OR 50 credits at Excellence to gain an Excellence Certificate To gain NCEA a student must earn: Level 1: 80 credits Level 2: 80 credits (or 60 credits at Level 2 or above PLUS 20 credits at any other level) Level 3: 80 credits (or 60 credits at Level 3 or above PLUS 20 credits at Level 2 or above) Useful Website Links For general information about NCEA go to: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/ncea/index.html To see the number of credits your child has earned so far go to:
