School Chaplain

The key things I offer the students of Tauhara are friendship, encouragement, being a listening ear, positivity, support and guidance.

Building positive relationships with the students is a major part of a chaplains’ role.  I am at school to make the students feel supported, worthy and welcomed in the school. It is so good to be able to get beside those who are having a hard day or who are not coping well with school life, and encourage them in what they are good at and being that someone who will listen to their needs. It is so important to show each student that they are created unique, and that they have an awesome purpose in life and to help them dream big and discover what that purpose may be. I believe in each student. I try to bring joy and hope in every situation they are facing and love to encourage those who are stepping out and trying something new. I truly do care for all who attend Tauhara College.

I’ve found that being that listening ear to the student who just needs someone to talk to is a huge part of my role. I strive to be a positive role model within the school and someone the students can look up to and depend on to believe in them. I am at school every Tuesday and the students can find me in the Counsellor's office this term.
